Windows XP Support Deadline – April 8, 2014 – Notes on Windows XP computer upgrades to Windows Vista!

Dell Laptop – backed up, load Vista, load programs/drivers, reload data – ran well

Gateway Laptop – backed up, load Vista – problems loading Service Pack 1 – needed to run Windows Vista updates first, load programs/drivers, reload data

HP Desktop – backed up data from another computer, load Vista – problems loading Service Pack 1 – needed to run Windows Vista updates first, load programs/drivers, reload data

Dell Desktop – troubles getting what I considered a reliable backup, this computer has a massive iTunes library. I decided to return this computer to customer without doing Windows Vista install, suggesting they secure a new/used Windows 7 computer with 1TB or more harddrive

Summary, I need to charge more for this service! I had forgotten how much of a change Windows XP to Windows Vista is for customers & how many questions they might have. I will separate the upgrade process from the training/question process for future upgrades.
